  5.    Please read UPGRADE.DOC for information on how to upgrade to ROK v2.03!

  7.    We apologize, but a reset is necessary when upgrading ROK from v2.0x to
  8.    v2.03.  ROK v2.02's ROKMAINT.EXE corrupted the PLAYER.DAT and ROK.DAT on
  9.    many systems all over the place, and thus, there is no way for us to make
  10.    a program to restore the corrupted data files.  With a fixed ROKMAINT.EXE
  11.    included in this v2.03 archive, a corruption of the PLAYER.DAT or ROK.DAT
  12.    file (and subsequent reset) should never happen again.  We know, resets
  13.    are a pain the rear, but sometimes they are necessary - as in this case.
  14.    Basically, with this version, there should be no more resets in future
  15.    releases of ROK - ever, barring no major problems.

  17.    Well!  On a brighter side, ROK registrations are coming in at a frantic
  18.    rate...  It's taking us a lot of time to get everything in order, and all
  19.    the e-mails answer and what not...  The new ROK is being welcomed all over
  20.    the place by nearly everyone, and we're pleased it's such a success on all
  21.    the systems that have set it up.  Thanks again to everyone who has been so
  22.    nice to us in complimenting the new ROK.

  24.    Quite a bit of changes in this version.  For a complete list, see the
  25.    WHATSNEW.203 file.  In short, more options, optimized code, the Guilds,
  26.    Rebel's Corner, Back Alley, bug fixes, and oh, so much more...  ROK is
  27.    a much better game now than it was in v2.02 - and it'll only get that
  28.    much better in the next release as well.  This is a major upgrade from
  29.    v2.02, so it's well worth the installation of this upgrade.

  31.    Oh yeah - this new version of ROK has 24 intricate RIP screens.  So, tell
  32.    your users of this and experience some RIP'ing graphics in ROK.  (and an
  33.    FX sound system will be added soon, too - I'll keep you posted on this...)

  35.    We at BFS feel that we should stress the fact that this current version
  36.    of ROK is a working product, released under the "Wide Beta" label.  ROK
  37.    is still being developed, even after this version.  Options are still
  38.    being added (see FUTURE.DOC for more info) as the days go by.  Thus, we
  39.    would like for you to hit our website or your local area every week or
  40.    so for a beta new version of ROK.  The bugs are being worked through,
  41.    and more and more options are being added all the time.  In short, ROK
  42.    will only get better in the very near future.
